Charities Trust's Lottery

Designed to give good causes, large and small, the chance to gain support and raise valuable funds through a weekly lottery draw.

Charities Trust is licensed by The Gambling Commission to promote our society lotteries. We use the services of Sterling Lotteries as our External Lottery Manager and are participating in their Unity Lottery as a way of raising charitable funds.

The price of entry starts at £1 per week; each entry is allocated a six-digit lottery number, which is unique to the player and remains the same for as long as they continue to play the lottery. Participants have the opportunity to win a jackpot of up to £25,000 each week.

For every £1 played, 50p is used by Sterling Lotteries to provide prizes and cover administration costs and 50p comes to Charities Trust to support our charitable objectives.

Taking part in Charities Trust’s lottery offers a unique opportunity for you and your colleagues to influence where Charities Trust donates the charitable proceeds raised through your organisation.

Charities Trust places 40p from each £1 played into a Team Giving Account that we set up for your organisation; the account can be used at any time to make donations to any recognised good cause (subject to Charities Trust’s usual checks).

There are several ways to make the most of the money raised through Charities Trust’s lottery. The team can decide which cause or causes to support, either regularly or on a one-off basis. Charities Trust has an extensive database of verified good causes for team members to choose to support.  And if a colleague is fundraising via our Sponsor Me platform the funds can even be used to support their fundraising event.

Every Saturday, winners are selected at random and prize cheques issued and posted directly, so there is no need to make a claim. Players must be 16 or over to enter.

Winners have to match 3, 4 5 or all 6 digits of the winning number in the correct order – matching all 6 wins the £25,000 jackpot, and there are smaller prizes for the other matches.

Tickets can be purchased via direct debit or cheque so there is no administration for the company.

The Unity Lottery is ideal for smaller companies and organisations but if you are a larger employer and are interested in something more bespoke please contact us.

  • Do you stay away from work or college to gamble?

  • Are you reluctant to spend gambling money on anything else?
  • Have you lost interest in your friends, family or past times due to gambling?
  • After losing, do you feel you must try and win back your losses as soon as possible?
  • When gambling and you run out of money do you feel lost and need to get back to gambling as soon as possible?
  • Have you ever lied, stolen or borrowed to continue gambling?
  • Do you ever feel depressed as a result of your gambling?

If you have answered yes to even one of these questions you should consider seriously consider whether you have a gambling problem.

There are many organisations that can help individuals overcome a possible gambling addiction and if anyone feels they are becoming addicted to gambling we recommend that you contact one of the many self-help groups that are available.
